CGI Magic…. Really?

I like to consider myself tech enthusiast. With everything changing so rapidly around us with technology, I believe the sky’s the limit when it comes to what technology can do for us.

Growing up, we had a stereo player like the one in the picture. I remember thinking about how cool would it be if I were able to see the video in the center of the stereo, along with the music. Clearly, I wasn’t far off.

I also can recall watching jaani dushman, a movie that was widely acclaimed as somewhat of a horror at the time. Well guess what? The “monster” in the movie was a guy in a black fur suit, walking like a ghost, scaring the sh** out of us. Of course, CGI, the thing I want to talk about now, was very much not a thing back then

Well, that brings me to the topic of the blog today. Since the release of James Cameron’s `Avatar` in 2009, I’ve found it mesmerizing, all 50 or so times I’ve watched the movie(it’s a REALLY well-made movie). I absolutely love with the amazing CGI Imagery special effects in the film. As much as I have been appreciative about the technology used to create Pandora and the Navi’s, I was watching a BTS video today and came to a realization as to how amazing/difficult/puzzling it would’ve been for the actors during the shoot. I keep thinking to myself — during the shoot, were Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana be able to visualize what they were going to live for the rest of their lives?

Watch the video above to understand the point I am trying to make. The top is what we were shown; bottom is how Sam and Zoe lived it during the shoot. Amazing, isn’t it?

Waiting for Avatar2 later this year. Talk to you all in the next blog!
